After a refreshing start to the weekend, Northeast ohio is set to experience a significant shift in weather patterns. The region enjoyed a pleasant Saturday with temperatures finally climbing back into the 80s but the forecast for the coming days is far from uniform.
The weather rollercoaster begins on Sunday with temperatures soaring to the mid to upper 80s across the region. However, this warmth will be accompanied by increased humidity and the potential for isolated storms in the afternoon and evening. Unlike the previous day, the late-morning round of storms is not expected, with the main activity likely to occur in the middle of the night.
Stormy start to the week
The threat of severe weather is expected to escalate as the week progresses. On Monday temperatures will rise even further, with upper 80s and a few locations potentially reaching the 90s. This increase in heat and humidity, combined with a storm system approaching the region, will heighten the risk of severe weather.
The first round of showers and storms is anticipated to develop in the Monday afternoon with more widespread activity expected during the Monday night. These storms could bring damaging windslarge hail and even isolated tornadoes. The threat level is currently at tier 1 of 5 for Sunday night but is expected to rise to 2 out of 5 by Monday night.
Heavy rain will also be a concern, particularly during the first half of Tuesday as the storm system slowly moves through the region. Residents are advised to stay informed and have a reliable way to receive severe weather alerts.
Cooling trend midweek
Following the stormy start to the week, Northeast Ohio can expect a cooling trend beginning on Wednesday. High temperatures are forecast to drop back into the 70s providing some relief from the previous heat and humidity. This cooler weather is expected to persist through Thursday with highs remaining in the 70s.
By Friday temperatures will begin to climb once again, reaching the low 80s. The weekend will see a return to warmer and more humid conditions, with highs in the mid 80s on Saturday.
